It was a fitting end to a sensational season.
The
Valley Jr Warriors Mite Selects skated to a 4-1 victory over the New
Hampshire Monarchs '01s on Sunday afternoon to claim top honors in the
American Division Mite Minor Division!
It marks the first New
England Hockey League Championship title for Ray Robinson's young squad.
The road to the championship was
thrilling. The Warriors began the playoffs on Friday with a 5-4 loss
against the Monarchs '01s, a team they battled all season long for the
top spot in the Mite Minor division.
The VJW Mite Selects did
not let the early loss deter them as the players responded with a
convincing 10-3 win against Assabet '02 on Saturday morning. Another
victory - this one coming in the form of a 6-3 decision against the
Worcester Crusaders '02s - set the stage for a rematch with the Monarchs
in the finals at the Haverhill Valley Forum.
This time, the
Warriors made sure they finished on top and as a result can now call
themselves champions!
