New England Hockey League
Player of the Week - 1/3/21

Sunday January 3rd

The NEHL was back in action this weekend with the first games of the New Year! If the rest of the season is anything like this past weekend, games will be close and competition will be tight! For this week’s “Player of the Week” award we’re extending the honor to two players. As we stay in the Greater Boston region and look to the 2010 level’s game between the Greater Boston All-Stars and the Merrimack Valley All-Stars, it was the goaltenders who shined! In a 6-0 victory for the All-stars from Greater Boston, James Boccuzzi and Thomas Theaumont were spectacular. Facing two relentless Merrimack power plays, all shots were kicked aside by both goalies to secure the shutout victory. Head coach Jay Rourke had this to say about his net minders, “Thanks to walled-off performances in the net from Thomas Theaumont and James Boccuzzi, we were able to defeat Merrimack Valley on Sunday afternoon – both goalies were tested often and were able to turn back every shot in the 6-0 victory!” Congratulations to James and Thomas!

Honorable mention: Nicolas Flynn (South Shore 2012); Matt O’Dowd (Middlesex 2012); James Dullaghan (Middlesx 2012)
